I bought the Makita LXT211 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit to replace my MasterCraft 14.4V drill set. The 18V Makita Drill is night and day difference to the MasterCraft drill – the power is there when you need it.

The LXT211 drill and impact driver are both brushed motors, which is typical in the industry. However, if your application or environment requires brushless motors you will need to search for a different combo kit.

There are TWO 3.0Ah batteries that come with the kit. Most other combo kits will come with 1.0 or 2.0Ah batteries for slim and weight reasons. I prefer the larger batteries as it allows you to work longer and not needing to switch your batteries frequently.

There is a rapid charger that comes with the combo kit. It can charge the 3.0Ah batteries in less than 22 minutes - it claims. I was never interested in testing this, but it is good to know if you want to plan your battery usage down to the charging time.
